St. Johns

St Johns feels like a small town with in the city. Founded in 1865 the town center with local cafes and up and coming art galleries is quaint and inviting. The focal point of the area is the St. Johns Bridge the tallest bridge in the city with two  gothic towers rising from its span. It provides direct access to the Northwest Hills  area and downtown. Much of St Johns is dedicated to parks, including the Smith and Bybee Lakes Wildlife Area which is the largest protected urban wetland in the United States and home to one of the largest remaining Western painted turtle populations in Oregon.   Kelley Point Park located at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers was once considered as a site for a city.
