Southwest Hills

Southwest Hills is located just west of Downtown and Lair Hill.

Southwest Hills includes two well known neighborhoods: Portland Heights and Council Crest. Portland Heights is located south of W. Burnside past Hwy 26th on SW Vista. These are the grand estates built just before the turn of the century that was one of the first neighborhoods in West Portland. Historically it was served by the original streetcar system in Portland.

Further SW from Portland Heights is the neighborhood of Council Crest. Built around a dormant volcanic cone, this area developed after the turn of the century and has many examples of architecture from the 1920’s through the 1940’s. Council Crest Park is the highest point in the West Hills. Council Crest sits just north of the Oregon Health and Science University Medical Complex.
