Mt. Tabor

Mt. Tabor is located between Sunnyside and Montavilla neighborhoods.

It has the distinction of being the only active volcano completely within a city limit in the contiguous US. Built around Mt. Tabor Park, this neighborhood is relatively new by Portland standards. Most of the homes were built in the mid century with a very “modern” ranch feel. Because of the hilly terrain, expect to find many daylight ranches in the area. Beautiful views of the city can be seen from the higher elevations.

Locals also enjoy Clinton Park, and the shops and taverns along the eastern end of Hawthorne Blvd. Make sure to visit the sexy Sapphire Hotel for an afternoon drink and Por Que No? restaurant, two local favorites.
