Center-North Tabor
Center (North Tabor) is on the east side of the Willamette River, the Banfield Expressway (Interstate 84) forms the northern boundary, separating it from the Hollywood District, Rose City Park, and Madison South neighborhoods. Laurelhurst and Hawthorne-Sunnyside border the west and Montavilla and the Rosemont Bluff Natural Area borders the east. Originally considered “North Mount Tabor” C.E.N.T.E.R., an acronym for “Citizens Engaged Now Toward Ecological Review” formed one of Portland’s first neighborhood associations. In 2008 residents changed the name to North Tabor. Providence Portland Medical Center is the largest employer for the area. The NE 60th Ave station of the MAX light rail system provides transportation. A few favorite places to try out are Skin and Bones Bistro -100% organic eats, Biddy McGraws Irish Pub, Donut Queen, AND Café -vegan treats and UFO Pizza.
