Irvington

Irvington is located in Northeast Portland within the boundaries of NE Fremont Avenue on the North, NE 7th Avenue on the West, NE Broadway on the South, and NE 26th Avenue on the East.  The strength and weakness of Historic Irvington are the same: the houses. The houses are not new, but spacious and comfortable. About half of the houses were built for the upper middle class years ago, typically between 1920 and 1939. Many are even older and are on the National Register of Historic Houses. The neighborhood has successfully managed to integrate multiple types of housing, including stately old apartment buildings and cutting edge condominium complexes. Shopping, dining and entertainment are easily accessed at the Lloyd Center or along Broadway St. The west side of town including Downtown and the Pearl District are easily reached by crossing the Broadway Bridge. The exclusive Irvington Club for tennis was founded in 1898. Locals enjoy the variety of Irving Park and Grant Park.
